Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Wins on Opening Day

Youth led the charge as the freshman tandem of Madison Horton and Brynn Perron combined to throw a five inning no-hitter, and sophomore Shelby Nelson knocked in three runs in a 13-1 Opening Day victory for the Cavs.

Horton struck out seven during her four shutout innings and Perron not only pitched a solid 5th, but also chipped in two hits and three RBI.

Senior shortstop Toni Ruthenberg added two hits including a double and her keystone partner Emily Sturgis ripped two hits of her own.  The defense was anchored by senior Jessica Duncan who, in her first game behind the plate, helped end the game with a thrilling 1-3-2 double play.

South Lake opens league play on April 13th at home versus Clawson.
